MILWAUKEE, WIS. -- WasteCap Resource Solutions today announces the selection of Pete Brands as the deconstruction and salvage supervisor. Brands joins the organization as an experienced carpenter with an extensive remodeling and new construction background.
“We couldn't be more excited to welcome Pete to our team,” said Kevin Fogle, Deconstruction and Salvage Manager for WasteCap. “Pete's commitment to the environment makes him a perfect fit to further our mission. He brings new creativity and skill to all of our DIY projects while also assisting with our architectural salvage efforts.”
Brands’ passion for reuse runs deep; he grew up on a farm where usable materials were kept and repurposed instead of being carelessly discarded. This upbringing helped shaped his mindset, career and strong commitment to the environment. Brands’ began his work experience at a local recycling center before obtaining his Bachelor of Arts from Grinnell College. He then went on to serve as an Environmental Health Volunteer in the Peace Corps where he was stationed in Panama.
Prior to joining WasteCap, Brands most recently worked for 10 years as a lead carpenter in cities such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Washington D.C. and Monterey, California. As a professional in the building trade, Brands saw the amount of unnecessary waste generated from projects. This led him to find his niche in historical restoration opportunities and materials reuse.
"Working at WasteCap is is a fantastic opportunity to work with a like-minded team to excel at my passion of minimizing construction and demolition waste, preserving the integrity of older materials by creating new products and helping to support the surrounding community,” said Brands.
